Amazon has renamed its Kindle Unlimited subscription service to Kindle Plus while expanding access to audiobooks. The rebrand accompanies a feature update that allows subscribers to listen to "virtual voice" audiobooks narrated by artificial intelligence.

The service retains its current pricing of $11.99 per month and continues to provide unlimited access to a selection of ebooks, comics, and magazines from the Kindle catalog. Previously, thousands of titles included companion audiobooks that allowed users to switch between reading and listening at the same point in the text. Under the new Kindle Plus structure, this switching capability now extends to titles with AI-generated narration.

According to ZDNet, the expansion specifically includes these virtual voice audiobooks. The Verge notes that this move aligns Amazon with a broader trend of subscription services adopting "plus" branding. The report does not specify the total number of titles currently eligible for the new AI audiobook feature.
