Meta released the Muse Spark Open AI model, which the company says runs on two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios using the MLX framework. Meta describes the release as the most capable US open-weight model to date and the first in its class to operate on desktop hardware in this configuration.
The two companies, typically rivals, collaborated on the launch and are publicly supporting one another. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on X that the model runs well on the new Mac Studios thanks to work with Apple and John Ternus. In reply, new Apple CEO John Ternus congratulated the team on running the Muse model.
