The Pentagon confirmed to Fox News Digital on Thursday that the firing squad execution of Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed. The scheduled event, set for Dec. 3 at Fort Hood, Texas, marks the first execution by the U.S. military in more than six decades.
"It will be livestreamed. Details will follow," a War Department official told Fox News Digital.
Hasan, a former Army major, was convicted in 2013 and sentenced to death for killing 13 people and wounding 32 others during a shooting at Fort Hood on Nov. 5, 2009. During the attack, he opened fire on unarmed soldiers and civilians after shouting "Allahu Akbar." President Donald Trump approved the use of an Army firing squad following a recommendation from War Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell previously announced the decision on X, stating, "Judgment day for Hasan has finally come." If the execution proceeds, it will be the first military execution by firing squad since 1945. Hasan currently remains on military death row at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
