An acquisition, where one company purchases another and absorbs its team, brought the presentation startup NextSlide inside OpenAI earlier this year. The deal went undisclosed until this week, when NextSlide founder Ahmed Beshry announced it on LinkedIn. No financial terms have been made public.
NextSlide built software with a clear brief: take a user's input, whether a text prompt, a collection of notes, an uploaded document, or research material, and return a polished, editable slide presentation. Beshry described what the product was meant to address. Building a compelling presentation has traditionally required hours of work, design experience, or both. His team's stated goal was to make visual communication accessible to anyone who wants to share what they know.
Beshry described presentations as the medium through which ideas travel: they teach, persuade, share research, and carry important work forward. NextSlide was started slightly more than a year before this week's announcement.
Beshry confirmed that the full NextSlide team has moved to OpenAI and is now helping build ChatGPT. He did not specify which features the team is contributing to. In his post, he thanked users who built presentations with the product and those who sent feedback along the way. He described the team's continued work as building AI tools that help people create, communicate, and turn ideas into meaningful work.
The purchase price was not disclosed. Beshry placed the close earlier this year, before the public announcement.
