Actor Ted Shackelford was seen using a walker during a rare public appearance in Los Angeles. The 80-year-old, known for his roles in 'Dallas' and 'Knots Landing,' was photographed wearing a blue collared shirt, a blue knit cardigan, black trousers, sunglasses, and sneakers.
Shackelford first gained fame playing Raymond Gordon on 'Another World' for 110 episodes before taking on the role of Gary Ewing in 'Dallas' and its spinoff, 'Knots Landing.' He portrayed the Ewing family's black sheep from 1979 to 1993. Despite spending over a decade in the role, Shackelford told The Dallas Decoder in 2013 that he did not like the character, describing him as weak. "I thought he never thought anything through. I didn’t see any strength of character," Shackelford said. "I mean, just once I wanted him to have some courage. And I never saw that."
Following the end of 'Knots Landing,' Shackelford continued his acting career with appearances in TV movies and guest spots on shows such as 'Cybill' and 'Spin City.' He returned to soap operas by starring as Jeffery and William Bardwell on 'The Young and the Restless' from 2006 to 2015. His most recent credit was a 2017 episode of 'NCIS.'
Shackelford also participated in the 2005 'Knots Landing' reunion, which featured cast members including Joan Van Ark, Michele Lee, Donna Mills, and William Devane. The event involved a reconstruction of the set where the cast discussed behind-the-scenes stories. He later returned to the role of Gary Ewing for the 2013 'Dallas' reboot.
In August, Donna Mills spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her scenes with Shackelford on 'Knots Landing.' She described the intimate moments as steamy and praised his demeanor, noting that he is a sweetheart despite his physical presence. She added that working with him was enjoyable.
