Nintendo has released Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for the Switch 2, a new entry in the company's long-running sports franchise. The title follows the original Wii Sports, which remains the best-selling software in Nintendo's history. That initial release helped turn around the company after a period of decline and established a pattern where each new console receives a dedicated sports game, similar to how Mario Kart and Pokémon titles appear on every platform. Although later entries in the series have not matched the sales of the original, they have become a standard fixture for Nintendo hardware. The Verge describes Nintendo Switch Sports Resort as the best version of the franchise to date.
