In a separate legal development, a federal jury in California found that Eli Lilly breached a contract with Nektar Therapeutics regarding the co-development of the autoimmune disease drug rezpeg. The jury awarded Nektar $90 million in damages plus interest, an amount significantly lower than what the company sought. Meanwhile, FDA commissioner nominee Heidi Overton largely avoided declaring her stance on vaccines, abortion, and China during a contentious Senate confirmation hearing. According to STAT’s Margaret Manto, Overton repeatedly pointed to existing law and agency policy when pressed on these issues, including whether she would resist political pressure from President Trump or health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
