U.S. health officials have moved forward with a plan to permit specialty pharmacies to produce certain peptides. These are largely unregulated injections that have gained popularity among followers of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other wellness influencers.
According to a Thursday posting on a government website, the Department of Health and Human Services submitted a peptides "interim access policy" for review. The proposal was sent to the Office of Management and Budget, the agency responsible for reviewing federal rules and regulations that may have significant economic impacts.
