DeFi Development Corp. reported an increase in its Solana treasury holdings on October 19, 2026, citing upcoming network improvements. The company, listed on Nasdaq under the ticker DFDV, stated that its balance grew by 3,983 SOL and SOL equivalents over the previous week. This accumulation brings total holdings to approximately 2,590,266 SOL and SOL equivalents. The announcement coincides with the scheduled launch of Alpenglow, a major upgrade to Solana’s consensus protocol set for October 21, 2026.
Alpenglow is designed to reduce transaction finality time from roughly 12.8 seconds to approximately 150 milliseconds. Transaction finality refers to the point at which a transaction becomes irreversible on the network. The upgrade aims to align decentralized settlement speeds with those of traditional card payment systems. DeFi Development Corp. noted that tokenized equities and other real-world assets are expanding on Solana, a trend it believes will benefit from faster transaction confirmation. The company described the upgrade as a significant advance in Solana’s core infrastructure since its launch.
In addition to the treasury update, DeFi Development Corp. announced a change to its Variable Rate Series C Perpetual Preferred Stock, known as CHAD. The annual dividend rate on CHAD will increase from 13.00% to 14.00%, effective November 2, 2026. The current 13.00% rate remains in place until that date. Based on CHAD’s $10.00 stated amount, the new rate represents annualized dividends of $1.40 per share. This change marks an approximately 7.7% increase in annual dividend income per share for investors holding the preferred stock.
Joseph Onorati, Chief Executive Officer of DeFi Development Corp., stated that Solana is entering a significant new growth cycle driven by the Alpenglow upgrade and expanding tokenization. Onorati said the dividend increase strengthens the income offering for investors ahead of what the company believes could be a major bull market for SOL. The company aims to make CHAD more compelling for income investors while continuing to accumulate SOL for common shareholders.
DeFi Development Corp. operates a treasury policy where the principal holding is allocated to SOL, providing investors with direct economic exposure to the asset. Beyond holding and staking SOL, the company operates its own validator infrastructure to generate staking rewards and fees from delegated stake. It also engages in decentralized finance opportunities and operates an online platform connecting the commercial real estate industry through software subscriptions and value-add services.
