TP-Link has stated it is willing to invest nearly $1 billion to manufacture routers in the United States. The company made this offer while attempting to secure a waiver from President Donald Trump's foreign router ban, which currently prevents it from selling its newly launched Wi-Fi 8 devices in the US market.

Despite the ban, competitors Netgear and Asus have obtained blanket waivers for their new equipment, allowing them to continue selling gear manufactured in Asia. TP-Link has not received a similar waiver, a situation potentially linked to alleged ties to China. By proposing domestic production, TP-Link distinguishes itself from these rivals, who have not made comparable investment commitments.

The proposed investment aims to create hundreds of high-paying jobs in the US. This move represents a significant shift for the company, one of the world's leading manufacturers of consumer Wi-Fi routers, as it navigates the regulatory barriers imposed by the current administration.
