Dave Fox, the chief financial officer of Northern Trust Corporation, has announced his retirement. The financial services executive intends to remain in his role through the end of the first quarter of 2027 to support an orderly transition. Northern Trust, based in Chicago, plans to conduct a comprehensive internal and external search for its next chief financial officer.

During this transition period, it is expected that Fox will continue to lead the company's Finance division. He will work closely with Michael O'Grady, the chairman and chief executive officer, and the leadership team. The goal is to ensure continuity across the company's financial, regulatory, investor, and strategic priorities.

O'Grady described Fox as a trusted and valued leader whose judgment and financial stewardship have strengthened Northern Trust. The chief executive officer stated that Fox played an important role in advancing the company's strategy and supporting its clients. O'Grady expressed gratitude for Fox's continued leadership of Finance during the search for a successor.

Fox joined Northern Trust in 2012. As chief financial officer, he has overseen the firm's global financial strategy, functions, and operations. Before that role, he served as President of Global Family and Private Investment Offices. He also held the position of Executive Vice President and Head of the Americas for Corporate & Institutional Services. In those capacities, he helped advance wealth management and institutional businesses, focusing on complex client needs and supporting the company's growth.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Fox spent more than 25 years at JPMorgan. He worked in New York, London, and Chicago, serving in various leadership roles. Fox holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. He also earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.

Beyond his corporate career, Fox is a Life Trustee and former Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. He is also a member of the Commercial Club of Chicago.
