Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is joining Fox News Channel as an on-air contributor, according to an announcement by FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott on Monday. Leavitt, who is 29 years old, will begin her new role on November 1 and is expected to provide commentary across the network's programming lineup.

Scott stated that Leavitt's experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of current political dynamics. The CEO said the network looks forward to Leavitt providing what she described as authentic and sharp insight to viewers across all FOX News Media platforms.

Leavitt served as the 36th White House press secretary during President Donald Trump's second administration, holding the position from January 2025 until August 2026. In her role, she acted as the administration's chief spokesperson, regularly addressing the White House press corps and representing the government on various domestic and foreign policy issues. She became the youngest person to hold the press secretary title in history.

In August, Leavitt confirmed her departure from the White House in a post on X. She described the decision as bittersweet, explaining that she concluded she could not balance the demands of serving as press secretary with her desire to be present for her two young children. Leavitt expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue appearing on Fox News Channel as an official member of the FOX News Media team, noting her intention to bring her unique perspective and the energy that defined her tenure to the network's viewers.

Before joining Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, Leavitt worked as a spokesperson for MAGA Inc. Her political career includes serving as communications director for then-House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik. In 2022, she ran as the Republican candidate for Congress in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District.

Leavitt previously worked in Trump's first administration as a presidential writer and assistant press secretary. She graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2019 with a degree in politics and communication and interned at Fox News during the 2016 presidential election. She currently resides in New Hampshire with her husband, Nick, and their two children.
