Smyrna Police charged 18-year-old Kingston Lammar Bradley with malice murder Friday after witnesses discovered dismembered human remains in the trunk of his car. The victim, identified as Shanteria "KT" Mosley, was a DoorDash worker whose family had previously reported her missing. Police said the discovery occurred after witnesses saw Bradley walking through his apartment complex carrying a container and dropping it when he noticed he was being watched.
Smyrna Police Lt. Meredith Holt stated during a Friday news conference that witnesses initially called authorities after finding human remains inside the container. Officers had previously visited Bradley's home after Mosley's family reported her car and phone were located there, but no search warrant was executed at that time. After the initial discovery of the remains, police returned with a search warrant for Bradley's vehicle. A department news release noted that officers found a garbage bag in the trunk that was pulled tightly, showing the outline of a body part.
The Cobb County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the bags contained human remains. Smyrna Police Chief Keith Zgonc identified the victim as Mosley. Holt confirmed Mosley was employed by DoorDash, noting that the company informed police she had not been working on the day she went missing. DoorDash told People Magazine that her account was last active on Tuesday.
Holt stated that police do not yet know what connection Bradley had to the victim. During the news conference, she described the incident as a "shocking crime" and "particularly gruesome," citing her 25 years in law enforcement and 16 years working crimes against children. Holt added that she could not imagine what the family is going through.
Police are actively searching for other human remains. Bradley faces additional charges for concealing the death of a person. Holt noted that although officers responded to Bradley's apartment on several occasions for domestic disputes, prior evidence did not suggest he was capable of committing such a homicide. Bradley appeared before a judge in Cobb County Magistrate Court on Thursday and was denied bail. His next hearing is set for October.
