Chet Hanks, the son of actor Tom Hanks, faced off with comedian Eric André at ComplexCon over a dispute that has persisted for years. The musician shared video of the meeting on Instagram, noting that André arrived at the event with four security guards because the setting made him uncomfortable.
In his post, Chet Hanks stated that André seemed to have forgotten criticizing him in the media after Chet appeared on his show. The musician claimed that after André was shielded by his security team, he admitted his grievance stemmed from Chet using a Jamaican accent, which André interpreted as mocking Caribbean culture.
The footage shows Chet Hanks walking up to André and placing a hand on his shoulder. André turned and asked, "What’s up?" in a friendly tone before the confrontation started. He later asked, "What’d I say?" while Chet continued to speak, though his words were not audible in the clip. André shrugged during the exchange.
The encounter ended with André walking away with his security team while making a comment about Tom Hanks. Chet Hanks laughed with friends nearby and said, "That was a long time coming."
Chet Hanks appeared on The Eric Andre Show in June 2023. Before that appearance, André told Rolling Stone that Chet "broke our crew," comparing the experience to the production of Rust. He described Chet as emotionally disturbed and alleged that he stole a motorcycle, nearly knocking crew members off ladders. André also claimed that Chet tried to prank the crew, but they edited that footage out.
André further asked how Colin Hanks came out so good while Chet came out so bad. After that interview aired, Chet Hanks responded on Instagram Stories. He called André a "p----" and claimed in a video that he outshined the comedian while trying to match the energy of André’s guests, according to Page Six. Fox News Digital reached out to André for comment.
