Former executives at two collapsed crypto firms are now legally prohibited from participating in commodity markets. A trading ban, when issued by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, bars named individuals from placing orders or holding positions in futures and swaps. The CFTC ordered that ban against former executives at Alameda Research and FTX.
Alameda Research was the trading firm that operated alongside FTX. Both failed. A CFTC trading ban covers all markets the agency supervises: futures, swaps, and related commodity derivatives. Former executives bound by such an order cannot operate in those markets in any capacity.
A separate legal action also advanced. A US soldier accused of profiting from the removal of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had filed a motion in the ongoing case. Federal prosecutors opposed it.
